Oh, the birthdays keep rolling in!
First, my brother-in-law, Peter, in Langley, BC, Canada celebrated his 75th!
And, our esteemed leader at UFV Chandigarh, Gurneet, celebrated his 25th!
President Mark honoured Gurneet at the close of the 7th Annual Awards Ceremony with a certificate and, of course, the cake. Happy Birthday rang through the beautiful auditorium at SD College.
Satwinder Ma'am did the honours with the first bite.
The Awards Ceremony, like everything else organized by the UFV staff, was a successful event.
Canada's Minister of State for Sport, Bal Gosal, and Consul General Scot Slesser were among the dignitaries attending.
The evening was hosted by Team Peary.
Red carpets lined the walkways outside the auditorium. Dinner was served outside after the event so buffet tables and round tables were set up on the grass. (This is November 10, Canada!)
Inside, tables were also set up for guest seating. Students sat in the seating at the rear of the room.
Light snacks were served.
Our self-appointed body guards, Ankit and Rachit, are pictured here with Opinder and Aman between them.
Hundreds of photos were taken as students celebrated the academic successes of their classmates (Dean's List, Scholarships, Work Term Completion) as well as reflected on the fun times they have had helping with events like the Terry Fox Run and the Hans Raj Hans concert.
Of course, everyone is still buzzing about the close encounters with Canadian VIPs this week.
Dilmeet and Gurneet stopped running around long enough to pose for a photo.
Second year students wanted a photo but needed George's help to prop up Bharat who broke his foot several weeks ago.
There was a great opportunity for socializing outside while dinner was being served. Faculty, parents and students mingled and enjoyed the evening. ( November 10, remember!)
Beautiful music was provided by a vocalist/musician, Michaelangelo Francis. He is a music teach at St. John's School in Chandigarh.
Arpit and I got the dancing started.
Unfortunately, we had to head home just when the bhangra started. Tomorrow morning will be an early start as we head to Amritsar with President Mark et al with the hope that on this trip, we will get to see the Retreat Ceremony at the Pakistan border.
