Today we were invited to Mohali (the member of the Tri-Cities that is in the Punjab) to have lunch with Dilmeet's family, the Bhasins. Dilmeet is, of course, one of the main characters in our India Adventure Story!
These two wise men sat for a time to solve the problems of the world, George with Dad, Mr. HS Bhasin.
Meanwhile, Mom, Mrs. Pinky Bhasin, was busy in the kitchen preparing the poori to go along with the amazing meal she had prepared.
This lady is one terrific cook! I am now a lover of mutton because of a dish she prepared and sent to campus for our lunch one day.
So, the good food deserves some coverage. If I incorrectly name any of the dishes, I am sure Dilmeet Ma'am will let me know. (I had to do some research!)
Today we had Dahi Vada with Tamarind Sauce, Channa, Masala Potatoes, Salad and my very favourite, Palak Paneer.
All of this was prepared from scratch by Mrs. Bhasin.
Younger sister, Manmeet, helped Mom with the cooking and serving.
Mom and Manmeet finally sat down to enjoy some of the delicious lunch themselves.
One wise young woman continued the discussion with George.
Manmeet then served the dessert which was like a banana cream trifle made by Mom and decorated with almonds and apple slices by Dilmeet.
Not one but two desserts!!
This one was made by Dilmeet and is her specialty. She commanded me to feature it.
It is like the halwa served in the Gurdwara--but even more delicious because of the loving hands that created it.
A portrait of this beautiful and hospitable family.
We were all well fed and ready for an afternoon nap.
Caring parents produce caring children.
Mr. and Mrs. Bhasin have done that!
Dilmeet still must make good on one promise, though. That is a ride on her scooter. This is how she gets to work each day. It is on the top of my list of things we must do before we leave India.
Thank you, Bhasin Family, for a great visit!
