This was a big night for students of UFV India. The senior students organized a welcome party for the first year students called the Freshers Party. The event was held at The Blue Blazer, a very popular club in Chandigarh.
George arrived with his bevy of beauties--Stacy, Dilmeet, Jeevika and Kathryn.
The music was loud, the lights were flashing and the students had a great time dancing. Probably 80% of the student population attended, and the girls especially were dressed for the occasion.
Ankita (in red) is a third year student who put it all together with some help from her classmate Divya (in yellow). Those two young women are a dynamic duo!
Ati was happy to pose with them.
First year students were "initiated" by having to perform a given task. Raghav had to propose to someone so he chose Dilmeet.
Sapna was given the title of Miss Fresher for her belly dancing performance.
And Tarundeep earned the title of Mr. Fresher for his performance as a crying baby sucking his thumb.
Of course, we are new to UFV India as well so there was a task for us. I was blindfolded and had to find George in a crowd of males by touching hands.
Then we had to profess our love for one another--in Hindi! Fortunately, we had some coaching,
We presented a gift to the students to help equip the Student Centre which they have raised money for and use on a daily basis. It was a Play Station 3, and obviously a good choice judging from the cheer that went up when they unwrapped it!
I am sure tomorrow will be a very productive day in classes........
