why do all the other rickshaws go whizzing past ours?
I guess we will have to pick more robust drivers to move the heavy load!
We had our second ride today. After a 15 minute walk to the grocery store in Sector 32, we had a 5+ minute rickshaw ride home. We paid 30 rupees this time and the driver gave us a great big smile.
It's a great way to travel.
Our route passes by the hospital in our Sector. We aren't planning any visits there.
Anjoli is the grocery store where we usually shop. It is closed on Sunday so we went to another--much the same but better service.
Quite unbelievable how much merchandise can fit into a small space. These are narrow shops with goods piled right up to the ceiling. This one is very neat and tidy--and has a big cookie counter which is the real reason George prefers to shop there.
It is a good thing there are many helpful young men on hand to climb up and retrieve the things we want to buy.
Subway is also in the Sector 32 mall and is often our choice for lunch because it is close to the university. Though we rarely go when we are in Canada, here it is western comfort food. My favourite is vegetarian with an Indian twist--some paneer.
We could buy our milk from the street vendor who stops outside our house every morning. None of us have yet had the courage to try it. He scoops it from the big milk can on his motor bike into a smaller one and carries that up to each door. Farm fresh!
