Social at the Canadian Consulate

Tonight we attended our first social at the Canadian Consulate.  This is a very informal event held on the second Thursday of each month and attended by Canadians who are living in India.

The number of attendees varies and this time, there were about a dozen.

The Consul General, Scott Slessor, is still in Canada so wasn't able to be there.  We did meet him in Abbotsford on July 16 and look forward to seeing him again when he returns to India.

George is pictured with Robin who works at the Consulate.  She says her job is to help Canadians who get into trouble when they are abroad.  Good to know that she is there for us just in case!  Hopefully, we will just see her when we attend these socials.

Back to introducing UFV support staff.......

Please meet Radhe.  He is a the one who greets us every morning, has the A/C on in the classroom and gets the technology going.  After that, he goes off to get us coffee!  You just can't beat the service!  Usually, he has a big smile on his face but got kind of serious for the photo.

Mushtaq Ahmed is the Faculty Head and is the professor teaching mainly Accounting courses.  In total, there are about nine faculty members this semester.  George is the only one from Canada.

We have not yet had an opportunity to meet them all.

The other cleaning/serving crew member who works along with Suresh (in green) is Brijinder.

They are always close by and can be summoned at a moments notice to do a task.

These are the two drivers--Harbans and Anil.

Harbans usually drives the Toyota van (pictured yesterday) and Anil the smaller hatchback vehicle whose make I do not know.
