It is hard to believe that we are now half way through our term here in Chandigarh. The time has flown and we know that the seven weeks ahead will go even faster. There will be many activities and visitors in addition to completing the courses.
Students can rest assured that their hard work on mid term exams was matched by le professeur who then had to do all the marking.
To observe this midway milestone, Team Peary invited Team Anand to the Flamme Bois Bistro for lunch.
Top - Simlee, Jeevika, Gurneet
Left - Mushtaq, Adi, Dilmeet
Ground lamb burger--very good!
Not fair to tempt those who were observing Navaratri.
Reflecting on the first half of our time in India, here are ten (of the thousands) things we have learned since we arrived:
10. If you say "Bhangra," they will come. Our newly-formed Bhangra team is excited about an upcoming important performance.
9. Sunshine dries the laundry much faster than any machine--acknowledging that Abbotsford family and friends don't really have much sunshine at the moment. We hear they are experiencing Canadian monsoons!
8. Dinner at 5:30 pm is considered to be a late lunch in India.
7a. You shouldn't jump into the righthand side of the vehicle's front seat unless you intend to drive, and 7b. you shouldn't intend to drive! There are experts who do that.
7c. Goats should always ride in the back seat.
6a. Shoes must be revered (although many of us already knew this). They come from high places!
Small shops with lots of inventory.
6b. George adds that you can buy Nikes(?) for 1500 rupees.
5. Trendy girls like Ankita and Divya drive scooters.
4. Push the light switch down to turn it on. Things are opposite on the other side of the globe.
3. Remember to turn on the geyser at least 15 minutes before unless you want to have a really cold shower.
2. Blogging is very important. How else will we remember all the experiences?
And........
1. Marcella Jonas gave us the very best advice. When we asked her how we should prepare for this journey, she said, "Just look forward to it. You are going to love it!"
Yes!
